COVID-19: free swabs for students

Please note: You cannot access the premises and get tested if you have COVID-19 symptoms!

Free swabs for students continue until Easter break

With the end of the COVID-19 emergency, the Sapienza swabbing campaign for students is also coming to an end. In Italy, recent measures have abolished quarantine for COVID-19 close contacts, who must only self-monitor their symptoms and wear an FFP2 mask for 10 days. Educational activities, therefore, will continue as a priority in person.

Sapienza swab campaign for students will end on April 13, just before Easter break.

We wish to thank all Sapienza students who took part in the screening and the Healthcare Profession students who made a fundamental contribution to the campaign.

Do not forget to get your booster dose and follow our 4 small steps for safety:

  • Wash your hands often
  • If you have a fever or other symptoms, let's stay home
  • Physical distance is paramount
  • Wear a face mask

Who can get tested?

Please note: You cannot access the premises and get tested if you have COVID-19 symptoms!

Book your SARS-CoV-2 molecular swab. If you have a green pass (or non-EU equivalent. Please read "Vaccine certificate for EU and non-EU citizens (Annex 2)" in the downloads section for full details on vaccines accepted by the Italian Ministry of Health) or vaccination exemption certification, you can get tested. If you have had your first dose of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine and are waiting for your COVID-19 green certificate to be activated (available 15 days after the first dose), you can get tested with the appropriate vaccination certificate.
If your swab is negative, you can repeat it 7 days after the last negative swab.
Biomolecular swabs are essential to track the virus and implement any subsequent measures for the safety of the entire Sapienza community, students and their families.

The project

Thanks to the collaboration of the Lazio Region and Policlinico Umberto I General Hospital, Sapienza is currently offering free SARS-CoV-2 screening tests for students (RT-PCR). The screening campaign has been available since February 25, given the restart of in-person educational activities for students enrolled in all years, in compliance with the security measures.

Beginning May 6, if your swab is negative, a free, voluntary repeat molecular swab is available, provided at least seven days have elapsed between molecular swabs.

A specific screening site has been set up in front of the Ciao-Hello offices, at the main campus, and all the necessary information will be provided. Results will be available 24-36 hours after sampling. The screening site was inaugurated on March 1, by Rectress Antonella Polimeni, in the presence of Lazio Region Health Councillor Alessio D'Amato and Policlinico Umberto I General Manager Fabrizio d'Alba.

For positive cases, measures will be taken to secure both the positive students' families and their classes.
