On June 22, the Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislaciòn of Spain unanimously elected Oliviero Diliberto as Acadèmico Honorario. The Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación is one of the most prestigious institutions in the Iberian Peninsula. The title of Honorary Academician (Académico de Honor) is awarded to jurists, scholars and legal professionals of the highest calibre in recognition of their extraordinary merits and their contribution to the legal sciences. The academy is based in Madrid and was founded in 1730. Its main purpose is the study and research of law, as well as acting in an advisory capacity on matters of legislative reform.

Oliviero Diliberto, former Minister of Justice, has, through his recognised expertise as a renowned Roman law scholar, made a significant contribution to the emergence and development of civil law in China.
