University Civic Engagement: the new CIVIS Microcredential project
Titled "University Civic Engagement: Making a positive impact on the world from the University", the new CIVIS Microcredential project is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD candidates, researchers, and administrative staff. Microcredentials are short learning courses that award a qualification upon completion, delivered through innovative teaching methods and a skills-focused approach: a flexible and essential solution to meet the demands of an ever-evolving job market and society.
Specifically, the "University Civic Engagement: Making a positive impact on the world from the University" course provides a clearer understanding of the role of universities and higher education institutions as bodies committed to creating a positive impact on society and the environment. Through this course, members of the university community will gain an in-depth understanding of civic engagement and its relevance to social, political, and economic developments. By mastering specific educational tools and methods, participants will enhance their ability to integrate civic engagement activities into their teaching practices or curriculum design. The course guides participants in showcasing and raising the visibility of their work's contribution to society, offering concrete tools to communicate the impact of research and educational activities, and to consciously embrace their social responsibility within the fields of education and research.
Sapienza is directly participating in the "Micro-credential on University Civic Engagement: Making a positive impact on the world from the University" project with a training module dedicated to the role and social value of cultural heritage in building democratic, inclusive, and supportive communities.
The course will be taught entirely in English and will run from November 1 to January 15, 2027. The deadline for registration is October 20, 2026. Registration details and further information are available on the CIVIS Agora platform via the provided link.
