Following the publication of Decree N. 27/1998 by the Italian Ministry of the Environment, Sapienza University appointed a Mobility Manager in charge of mobility policy at the university. Sapienza promotes sustainable mobility to safeguard the environment, promoting policies that discourage the use of private transport and encourage the use innovative tools and solutions that reduce the environmental impact of vehicular traffic. The aim is to limit traffic congestion and improve the organisation of student and staff transport between the university and their homes, especially through actions that provide alternative means of transport. Moreover, Sapienza aims to act in synergy with the City of Rome and coordinate with the council’s Mobility Managers and those at other universities.
