The Erasmus+ ICM programme, funded by the European Commission, allows students and staff to spend a period of study or teaching/training in non-EU countries and vice versa.
Outgoing students and academic staff
- Students
The Erasmus+ ICM offers selected outgoing students a scholarship of 700 euros per month plus travel expenses.
All scholarship holders will be able to attend courses at the host university without having to pay fees. Furthermore, all the activities carried out abroad will be recognized by Sapienza University of Rome as established in the Learning Agreement.
Student mobility can last from a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 6 months (possibly to be extended up to 12 months out of which 6 months without a Zero-EU grant).
The ICM scholarship also covers research mobility at PhD level with the same duration.
- Academic Staff

Outgoing academic staff receive a daily scholarship according to the provisions of the Erasmus+ ICM programme combined with the University academic trips’ regulation for the maximum period allowed for that destination plus travel expenses.Mobility of academic staff lasts from a minimum of 7 to a maximum of 21 days (including the two travel days).
The duration varies according to the distance between Sapienza University of Rome and the hosting institution of the academic staff.
Travel expenses for both students and academic staff are calculated on the basis of the Distance Calculator and the distance traveled:

The application procedure is made out of three phases:
- PRE-SELECTION – Preselection and Nomination of the candidates (made by the partner university)
- ON LINE APPLICATION – Application and Documents’ submission by the nominated candidates on Sapienza’s informatic system;
- FINAL SELECTION OF STUDENTS AND STAFF.
ACADEMIC OFFER
Erasmus+ ICM incoming students may apply for any programs offered by Sapienza University of Rome (taught both in Italian or in English). Bachelor students in their 3rd of 4th year may pick courses taught at Master level.

The academic year officially starts on October 1st and ends on October 31st of the following year (https://www.uniroma1.it/it/pagina/calendario-dellanno-accademico). However, the teaching schedule varies from faculty to faculty: students are strongly recommended to request the specific academic calendar to the administrative office of their receiving faculty (http://www.uniroma1.it/internazionale/studiare-e-lavorare-allestero/erasmusplus/area-gestione/raef). Usually, the 1st semester classes start by the end of September and last till December, exam sessions start in January and last till the end of February, while the 2nd semester classes start by the end of February and last till the end of May, exam sessions start in June and last till the end of July. Another exam sessions phase takes place in September.
Erasmus+ ICM incoming staff may apply for any discipline available at Sapienza University of Rome.
