HR Excellence in Research – New Actions Planned for 2026–2027

logoFollowing the recent submission of the Internal Review to the European Commission, Sapienza is renewing its commitment to excellence in research and the development of human capital through the HRS4R (Human Resources Strategy for Researchers), setting out its new strategic plan for the two-year period 2026–2027.

This programme introduces concrete measures and targeted objectives, organised into four key areas, aimed at supporting the scientific community, promoting innovation and strengthening our university’s international appeal.

Ethics

Action 41 “Ethics and Integrity in Research”: Sapienza will launch an integrated programme aimed at promoting integrity and ethical principles in the conduct of all research activities

  • Organisation of university events focusing on research integrity and ethical principles (Target: at least 1 event per year)
  • Design and delivery of a regular training programme on ethics aimed at Sapienza's entire scientific community (Target: delivery of at least one training programme per year)

Entrepreneurship

Action 42 “Development of Entrepreneurship”: To tackle the challenges of the future, Sapienza is focusing on strengthening the entrepreneurial spirit and promoting technology transfer within its ecosystem.

  • Launch of a call for proposals for academic entrepreneurship initiatives (Target: to issue one call for proposals per year)
  • Development of the SIEH (Sapienza Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub), in collaboration with Sapienza’s Enhancement and Technology Transfer Office. This action aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship within Sapienza’s academic community by supporting projects and initiatives that transform research ideas into concrete business opportunities (Target: planning and organising at least 10 events dedicated to innovative entrepreneurship)

Working environment

Action 43 “Adoption of the Rewards and Well-being Regulations”: Sapienza attaches the highest priority to the well-being of its staff and to the continuous improvement of the quality of the working environment. This initiative involves the introduction of rules and procedures designed to reward merit, boosting staff productivity and well-being through tangible and motivational rewards (Target: adoption of the Regulations)

International attractiveness

Action 44 “Working Group on Internationalisation”: In a competitive global context, Sapienza is committed to strengthening its international attractiveness by improving the onboarding processes for researchers and staff from abroad.

  • An IT tool for monitoring and tracking the inflow of international researchers (Target: definition and proposal of the IT tool).
  • Improved methodologies and procedures to facilitate the issuance of visas and residence permits for non-EU researchers (Target: drafting of a document containing proposals for improving reception procedures).
  • Procedures aimed at improving accommodation services for incoming researchers (Target: completion of a feasibility plan for improving Sapienza’s international reception services).

The implementation of the Action Plan takes an inclusive and participatory approach. The Technical and Scientific Committee is in charge of guiding and supervising overall progress (with the power to introduce corrective measures), supported in practical terms by the Management Committee. The individual management teams leading the actions will periodically complete progress reports, which will be used to draw up the overall monitoring report.
