Sapienza intends to monitor the implementation of its Outreach - Terza Missione activities, using tools designed to measure their quality and impact.

The Terza Missione is fully recognised as an institutional mission of universities, alongside teaching and research. It is subject to the same internal procedures for planning, management, self-assessment and improvement on which the Quality Assurance model is based

The Terza Missione is subject to periodic assessment by ANVUR (the National Agency for the University and Research System Assessment) as part of the VQR (Research Quality Assessment) process and following the introduction of the AVA system (Self-Assessment, Periodic Evaluation and Accreditation).
