The Ministry of University and Research has published the PRIN 2026 HYBRID call for proposals (Research Projects of National Interest_in Italian) aimed at providing public funding for fundamental research projects with a view to strengthening the national research system and fostering collaboration between universities, research bodies and higher education and training institutions.

The guiding principles of the PRIN 2026 HYBRID programme are:

• the promotion of excellence, impact and efficiency in the implementation of research projects;
• the eligibility for funding of projects relating to the themes referred to in the previous paragraph;
• the adequacy of the financial support provided by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR).

The PRIN 2026 Hybrid Call for Proposals is intended to fund projects which, in line with the European Union’s strategic priorities and the objectives of strengthening the country’s competitiveness, address the following thematic areas:

• quantum technologies;
• high-performance computing (HPC);
• artificial intelligence;
• cybersecurity;
• innovative technologies and approaches in the healthcare sector.
