Benefits and exemptions  - Academic Year 2022-23

Sapienza supports families and outstanding students with grants and tuition fee exemptions. We are aware that the consequences of the Covid-19 emergency have significantly changed the contributive capacity of many families: for this reason, on July 21, 2020, Sapienza's Board of Governors extended the no-tax area provided for by DM 234/2020 to students with a "Isee per il diritto allo studio universitario" (Personal Financial Standing/Isee for the right to university education) up to 24,000 euros (the threshold established by DM 234/2020 is 20,000 euros) as long as the merit requirements are met (Law no. 232/2016. )

The same resolution also provides for the following:

  • Additional benefits for students enrolling from their second "fuori corso" year (students who have not completed their exams within a set period);
  • The payment of a 30-euro fixed fee per year in lieu of the enrolment fees for 18+ students living outside their family of origin based on a court order (so-called care leavers).

For Academic Year 2022-23, benefits and bonuses are confirmed, including :

  • Family Bonus – reductions for all family members enrolled at Sapienza;
  • Changing Programme – changing programme is free during the year of enrolment if no exams have been taken.
  • Full exemption for students with certified disabilities as per Law 104 art 3 or invalidities;
  • Full exemption for students with certified Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD);
  • Payment of a 30-euro fixed fee per year in lieu of the enrolment fees for students who are covered by the benefits provided for in art. 30 of Law no. 118 of March 30 1971.

The amounts of enrolment contributions at the maximum value are unchanged compared to previous years.

Tuition Fees depend on Personal Financial Standing (ISEE)

For students who do not qualify for total exemptions, Sapienza applies a model that allows each student to determine the amount of their own fee - compared to the ordinary measure - in accordance with their financial standing - ISEE for the right to university study (Board of Directors' Resolution of June 11, 2013).
