1. Changes during the first year of enrolment. Anyone who is legally residing resident in Italy (including those from European or non-EU countries), enrols in a first-cycle degree programme in the academic year 2024-2025, meets the requirements to transfer to another first-cycle degree in the same academic year 2024-2025 and has not taken any exams, is not required to pay the transfer fee.
Transfers to restricted access degree programmes are carried out on Infostud: operational instructions are indicated on the university website https://www.uniroma1.it/en/pagina/infostud-platform.
Transfers to non-restricted access degree programmes are carried out using the procedures indicated in the "Transfers in the first year" form (“Passaggi nel primo anno”), available on the university website on the Student Forms page. Before submitting your application, you must check on Infostud that you have uploaded your valid identity document (section ‘Profile>Personal Documents’).
2. Non-EU students permanently resident abroad may only request a transfer to a different degree programme from the year subsequent to the year of enrolment.
3. Students who are enrolled in years following the first in a degree programme at Sapienza University, are up to date with payments, have already taken exams and intend to change to a different degree programme in the academic year 2024-2025 must submit an application to change degree programme, in accordance with the deadlines and procedures for admission to the destination degree programme, as indicated in the relevant call for applications. The application must be submitted in accordance with the procedures indicated in the "Passaggio di Corso di studio con riconoscimento esami" form, available on the university website on the Student Forms page. Before submitting the application, students must check on Infostud that they have uploaded their valid identity document (section “Profile>Personal documents”).
4. Deadlines. The deadlines (for all students) for the submission of the degree programme change application are indicated below, based on the degree programme.
a) If the destination programme is a non-restricted access Bachelor's degree or a non-restricted access single-cycle Master's degree (Law), you must follow the procedures set out in the call for applications and apply for a degree programme change by November 5, 2024.
b) If the degree programme that students wish to change to is a restricted access bachelor’s degree programme with an admission test or a restricted access single-cycle master’s degree programme with an admission test, the deadlines indicated in the call for applications in the specific paragraph about degree programme changes must be followed.
c) If the destination programme is a restricted access two-year Master's degree, those already enrolled in a two-year Master's degree programme must meet the curricular requirements for the destination programme, pass the selection procedure and be placed in an adequate position in the ranking list, and submit an application for degree programme change within the deadlines for enrolment in the new programme, as set out in the call for applications.
d) If the destination programme is a two-year Master's degree programme with entry requirements and academic knowledge assessment, the application for degree programme change must be submitted by December 19, 2024, after having also paid the €10 fee to access the entry requirements assessment in compliance with the indications described in art. 8 of these Regulations. It is still required to have paid the first instalment of tuition fees by the deadline of November 5, 2024.
5. Possible degree programme shortening and enrolment in years following the first, after a change of degree programme.
For recognition of credits (ECTS) acquired in the degree programme, the Degree Programme Board of the new degree programme:
a) assesses the possibility of full or partial recognition of the student career pursued up to that time;
b) may validate part or all of the exams taken and, depending on the number of ECTS recognised, shorten the duration of the degree programme itself by indicating the year of the programme in which the student can enrol;
c) drafts the study plan for the award of the degree.
It is not possible to request modifications to the decision to recognise exams and admission to the programme year either in the same academic year or in subsequent years.
In the case of two-year Master's degree programmes with entry requirements and academic knowledge assessment, the Board assesses the fulfilment of curricular requirements and the adequacy of academic knowledge. In the event of a gap in curricular requirements and/or academic knowledge, the application cannot be accepted.
For bachelor's degrees with local restricted access, single-cycle master's degree programmes and two-year master's degree programmes with restricted access, the Board also assesses whether there are places available in the year in which the student should enrol on the basis of career reconstruction; if there are no places available, the request for degree programme change cannot be accepted.
For two-year Master's degree programmes, the following credits cannot be recognised:
- the credits acquired in order to obtain the qualification required for enrolment in the Master's degree programme;
- the credits acquired to obtain the curricular requirements necessary for enrolment in the Master's degree programme.
6. Payments. The Student Affairs Office of the programme of origin will produce a payment slip of €65 for transfer fees (the contribution is also due for transfers between programmes or venues belonging to the same Faculty): the payment slip of €65 will be available on Infostud under the function ‘Payment slips>Created payment slips’; payment must be made by the deadline indicated on the call for applications for the programme of destination.
If the first instalment has already been paid for the programme of origin, the Student Affairs Office will only produce the €65 payment slip; otherwise, it will be possible to generate the first instalment of tuition fees for enrolment on the new programme from Infostud, after payment of the €65 payment slip. If, during generation, the first instalment payment slip does not include the data of the new degree programme, it will be necessary to send a copy of the payment receipt of €65 to the Student Affairs Office of the destination programme. The Student Affairs Office will produce the first instalment slip for the new programme, which must be paid by the deadline indicated on the call for applications for the new programme.
7. Variations in the amount of tuition fees. Following the change of the year of course decided by the educational structures and the contribution group to which the new programme belongs, the system may produce an adjustment on the amount of tuition fees, which will be applied to subsequent instalments.
8. Exams. From the date on which the degree programme change application is submitted, students are not allowed to sit exams in their programme of origin. Following the transfer, the student may sit exams in the new programme from the first session envisaged for freshmen in the 2024-2025 academic year (end of first term/semester).
9. Revocation. The degree programme change application may be revoked within 7 days of its submission. Revocation does not entitle the applicant to reimbursement of the transfer fees.
10. Incompatibility with part-time learning. It is not possible to submit in the same academic year a request for part-time learning (Art. 50) and a request to change to another degree programme.
11. Prohibition on changes to higher-cycle degree programmes. Students are not allowed to change from a bachelor’s to a master’s degree programme.
