Sapienza’s academic structure is based on 11 Faculties comprising over 60 premier academic and research Departments. Departments, in charge of making decisions about their policies and goals, provide a transformative education and inspire innovative research of service to the nation and to the betterment of society.
Every Department offers a broad array of academic programs and grants both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Currently students can select from 290 Bachelor and Master programmes, 100 PhD courses and 200 professional courses. The Departments guarantee excellence and diversity of research and research training across all major discipline areas and emerging fields. Their aim is to provide academic leadership and research training, developing strategic partnerships with other universities, with industry around the world and with the European Community.
Each Department is in charge of recruiting faculty, sourcing funding, purchasing equipment, and supporting interdisciplinary programs and cross department collaborations.
