Legal Affairs Area

The Legal Affairs Area, regardless of the strategic importance attributed by Sapienza, takes on a crucial role in itself within the university system also considering the several stakeholders who daily ask for advice, the great number of interests at stake, and, consequently, the need to guarantee judicial and extrajudicial assistance but also, as much as possible, prior legal advice aimed at deflating the controversy ex-ante.

Established as per DD n. 2475 - 26.7.2012 and activated starting from 1.12.2012, it incorporates in a single managerial unit:

  • Disputes management and protection of rights and interests of Sapienza University in court.
  • Advisory and propositional service, also direct and immediate, in favour of the Central Administration and the and Associated/Local Administration of Sapienza University, offering legal advice and problem-solving services related to the University Strategic Plan.
  • Debt collection procedures on behalf of the Central Administration and the Associated/Local Administration via extrajudicial means, and, if necessary, via legal means both against external debtors of Sapienza University and internal individuals in the event of negative payments (salary).
  • Disciplinary action towards Academic and Administrative staff as per current regulations, acting as UPD (Ufficio Procedimenti Disciplinari) towards the technical-administrative staff and the academic libraries staff and serving as support of the Collegio di Disciplina (Disciplinary Board) towards the Academic Staff.

To that end, the Area has its own internal professional body of lawyers.
