7 medals at the 2023 Italian Swimming Championships for two Sapienza students

The athletes scored a total of seven medals and are bidding to represent Italy at the next World University Games and World Championships in Japan next summer

Giulia D'Innocenzo and Emma Virginia Menicucci, sophomore students in Sapienza's Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics, racked up medals at the latest Italian Swimming Championships held in Riccione from April 13 to 17.

Giulia came third (bronze medal) in the 100 dolphin, and Virginia third (also bronze medal) in the 100 freestyle. In addition, two golds were obtained in the relay, and a silver for Giulia and two silvers for Virginia. Our students won a total of seven medals.

That is the first time that Sapienza's athletes have achieved such a significant result in swimming and by two female students simultaneously.

Giulia and Emma will go on to represent Italy at the next World University Games and probably also at the World Championships in Japan next summer.
