The "Antonio Feltrinelli giovani" Award to a Researcher at the Charles Darwin Department of Biology and Biotechnology

Raffaele Dello Ioio, researcher at the Charles Darwin Department of Biology and Biotechnology, was awarded the "Antonio Feltrinelli giovani" award (2019) for his studies on the genetic-molecular circuits that regulate the correct development of plant organs, with results that are been defined as the discovery of the "Yin Yang of root regulation".

The Antonio Feltrinelli award dates back to 1950 and is one of the most prestigious awards in Italy, awarded by the Accademia dei Lincei to the best talents, Italian and foreign, in the artistic, cultural and scientific fields. In the history of the award, such personalities as Giorgio Parisi, Giacomo Rizzolatti, Italo Calvino, Giacomo Manzù, Filippo De Pisis, Eugenio Montale, Eduardo De Filippo, Martin Karplus, Thomas Mann, Miers van der Rohe, Igor Stravinsky and many others were honored other authoritative names.

Since 2017, the award has established a category dedicated to Italian researchers under the age of 40 who have achieved results of evident originality, autonomy and international relevance, contributing to the strengthening of Italy's role in the international scientific landscape.
