The European Commission has appointed ten new members to the European Innovation Council (EIC) and renewed the appointments of ten existing members. Among the newly elected members is Chiara Petrioli, Professor of Computer Science at the "Antonio Ruberti" Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering and former Deputy Rector of the Sapienza Outreach area Scouting, Fundraising and Business Incubation. Founder of the Sapienza spin-off WSense S.r.l. and director of two laboratories, Petrioli is one of the most cited international researchers in the field of computer science and engineering and has received numerous awards.

EIC Council members are selected on the basis of innovation expertise, thematic expertise in key areas for Europe's future innovation (including digital, health and green transition), gender balance, geographical origin and age.
