
On Fashion: Art and Feminism in the Words of Maria Grazia Chiuri
On Saturday, December 14, at 10:30 am, in Lecture Hall 1 at the Faculty of Humanities, Maria Grazia Chiuri, stylist and first female Artistic Director at Dior, will hold a lesson for the inauguration of the 2019-20 Masters Degree in Fashion Studies.
Maria Grazia Chiuri, who was born in Rome, is the first woman to hold the prestigious title of Art Director for the French fashion house. Before that, Ms. Chiuri worked for a range of stylists including Fendi and Valentino, and has always been keen to promote equal opportunities for women in the world of fashion and art.
The event will also be attended by Romana Andò, President of the Masters Degree Programme in Fashion Studies; Alessandro Saggioro, Deputy Director, Department of History, Anthropology, Religion, Art and Entertainment; and Antonello Folco Biagini, President of the Fondazione Sapienza, who will present the “Amica della Sapienza” membership card to Maria Grazia Chiuri. The event will be coordinated by Raffaella Perna, Professor of 19th and 20th Century Art History.
