Humanities Prof. Emeritus Serianni Receives Honoris Causa Doctorate

Luca Serianni, Professor Emeritus of the Sapienza Faculty of Humanities, has been awarded an Honoris Causa Doctorate by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

On October 31, 2019, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens presented an Honoris Causa Doctorate to Luca Serianni, Professor Emeritus of the Sapienza Faculty of Humanities.

Prof. Serianni, an illustrious and world-renowned scholar of the History of Language, was Professor of the History of the Italian Language at Sapienza until 2017. He is a national member of the Academia dei Lincei, Academia della Crusca and the Academia dell’Arcadia, as well as the Director of the “Studi linguistici italiani” and “Studi di lessicografia italiana” Journals. Prof. Serianni has studied ancient and modern Italian literature and is the author of a book on Italian grammar and co-author of the Devoto Oli Italian Dictionary.

In 2002, Prof. Serianni received an Honoris Causa Doctorate from the University of Valladolid.
