On Friday, March 19, 18 new Covid intensive care beds were inaugurated at the Policlinico Umberto I General Hospital in Rome. Rectress Antonella Polimeni, town councillor for Health Alessio D'Amato and the Director general of Umberto I Fabrizio d'Alba , attended the event.

The beds have been financed by Invitalia, with an investment of 2.5 million euros, aimed at structurally reinforcing the intensive care unit beds given the current health emergency.

All beds are equipped with a monitor and camera connected to a control panel that allows constant monitoring of patient parameters, even from outside a 'clean room'. The new beds are located in an area next to the existing intensive care unit, connected to it by a tunnel, to keep the two services closely integrated. Equipment includes an ultrasound scanner. The ward is intended for Covid patients but can be quickly converted to ordinary intensive care.
