Nowruz Festival: Persian New Year between spring traditions and musical harmonies

The Italian Institute of Oriental Studies (ISO) is organising "Nowruz Festival: Persian New Year between spring traditions and musical harmonies". The event will be held on Tuesday March 26, starting at 5 PM, in the Aula Magna of the Marco Polo building. Participation is open to the public, including Sapienza's student community. Nowruz, meaning 'new day' in Persian, is a traditional holiday marking the beginning of the new year and the arrival of spring in many cultures of Central Asia, the Middle East and the Caucasus. Celebrated on March 21 or the first day of the spring equinox, Nowruz is an ancient festival dating back thousands of years and is considered one of the most important cultural events in many societies. Nowruz represents a time of rebirth and hope, symbolising the rebirth of nature after winter and the beginning of a new cycle of life and opportunity
