
Shanghai Global Ranking: Sapienza among the world's top 50 universities in three disciplines
On October 27 Shanghai Ranking Consultancy published the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2023 (GRAS). The ranking confirms Sapienza's position among the top Italian universities and the best universities in the world. In particular, Sapienza is among the top 50 universities in the world in three disciplines: Physics (12th place), Aerospace Engineering (15th place) and Automation & Control (32nd place).
Sapienza also boasts 5 absolute national records in Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics (in the 51-75 range), Telecommunications Engineering (in the 76-100 range) and Ecology (101-150) and 2 joint records in Statistics and Psychology (101-150).
The Shanghai ranking lists universities in 55 subjects, including natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences. GRAS ranks more than 1,900 out of 5,000 universities in 104 countries.
The criteria are based on objective academic indicators and include research results (Q1), research impact (CNCI), international collaboration (IC), research quality (Top) and international academic awards (Award).
The same organisation, Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, published on August 15 the 2023 edition of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) in which Sapienza was confirmed at the top for the second year running, as the first and only Italian university in the 101-150 range.
