Thinking beyond frontiers. Sapienza University will host the 25th World Congress of Philosophy in 2024
On Monday, April 26, the International Federation of Philosophical Societies, the Società Filosofica Italiana and Sapienza University signed the agreement that officially launches the organisation of the 25th World Congress of Philosophy (WCP), dedicated to the theme "Thinking beyond frontiers."
After Bologna in 1911, Naples in 1924 and Venice in 1958, Rome will host the final phase of the World Congress of Philosophy in July 2024. Over the next few years, it will be preceded by a series of meetings, seminars, and preparatory events that will place our country's cultural and academic forces at the centre of the international philosophical debate (and not only).
The World Congress of Philosophy is the most relevant gathering of academic and intellectual communities from around the world, who meet every five years in a different country to strengthen professional relations, promote philosophical education, and contribute to the main issues and challenges of their time. For these reasons, the expectation it arouses on an international scale is extraordinary: attendance at the last Congresses (Athens 2013 and Beijing 2018) exceeded 4,000 registrants from over 120 countries.
The participation of students and young researchers from all over the world will be a priority. An entire section of the Congress will be reserved for them. It will be an opportunity to open up to other ideas, languages, cultures, and sensibilities for the younger generations. It will represent a particularly significant training opportunity and a chance to enhance their studies.
