Third Viroche Day, a Meeting with Pope Francis on the Dramatic Reality of Latina America
On Nov. 6, 2018 at the Faculty of Humanities there was the Third Vioriche Day, a seminar in which participated over 200 students to remember Father Juan Viroche, the priest killed in Argentina in Oct. 2016 for protecting young people from the circle of drug trafficker. Durinf the event, this criminal action has been contextualised within the Latin America reality, a land struggling from injustices and abuses of power, with a reflection upon the South of the world and the figure of Saint Oscar Arnufo Romero, proposed by Marco Impagliazzo, president of the St. Egudui Community.
On November 7, during the plenary session in St. Pietro, Luciano Vasapollo, Rector's delegate to Relations with Latin America and Caribbean Countries brought the themes of the seminar to the attention of Pope Francis, giving him a message-appeal for the end of the embargo in Cuba and the cancellation of sanctions against Venezuela.
