Two young researchers from the Department of Public Health and Infectious Diseases among the winners of the INF-ACT Early Career Awards 2024
Marta De Angelis and Letizia Santinelli, researchers in the Department of Public Health and Infectious Diseases, have been awarded the INF-ACT Early Career Awards 2024, which aim to support young researchers in the field of infectious diseases.
The winners were selected by the Evaluation Committee and the INF-ACT Foundation Board on the basis of their scientific profile and project proposals.
Marta Angelis' project was recognised for its contribution to advancing knowledge of the pathogenesis of respiratory viruses, which may facilitate the identification of new therapeutic strategies, and Letizia Santinelli's project for the use of innovative DNA sequencing techniques to identify key species that can be used as biomarkers of disease.
The INF-ACT Foundation awarded 15 research grants of 15,000 euros each to 15 young scientists working in 10 universities and research centres in the north-central and southern regions of Italy, with the aim of promoting further progress in research and the implementation of tools to combat emerging infectious diseases.
