World University Rankings 2020-21: Sapienza first in Italy. Our University has gained 24 positions in the world ranking
CWUR 2020: Sapienza first in Italy
The World University Rankings, published by the Centre for World University Rankings (Cwur) on June 8th, 2020, confirmed Sapienza as top University in Italy. Compared to last year, our University has gained 24 positions, and it is now 114° in the international ranking; among the Top 0,6% of the 20,000 universities surveyed. "I'm very satisfied with this outcome" – says Eugenio Gaudio, Rector of Sapienza University. "Research carried out at our University has been taken into great consideration. Now more than ever, our country is aware of the strategic importance of the research which needs to be boosted and made available to everyone". The ranking is based on seven indicators, four of which linked to Research Performance (the best parameter for Sapienza); other criteria are Quality of Faculty, Quality of Education and Alumni Employment. Top University worldwide is Harvard University, followed by MIT in Boston and Stanford University. At national level Sapienza is followed by the University of Padova (164°), the University of Milan (179°) and the University of Bologna (182°).
ARWU (Shanghai) by Academic Subject 2020: first place in Italy in Natural Sciences and Engineering
The ARWU 2020 ranking by academic subjects, drawn up by the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy organisation and published on June 29, confirms Sapienza's leadership at national and international level, in two macro-areas in particular: Natural Sciences and Engineering. Top position for Sapienza in Aerospace Engineering (first place in Italy and 24th in the world), Automation &Control (first place in Italy and 28th in the world), Physics (first place in Italy and 29th in the world) and Mathematics (in 1-4 position in Italy and 51-75th in the world). Our University is second in Italy for Statistic after Padova, 101-150 worldwide, position 1-2, on a par with Padova for Psychology (101-150 worldwide ), and 2-4 for Medical technology (76-100 worldwide)
