Art. 33 - TIME LIMIT FOR OBTAINING THE EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION (STUDENTS UNDER THE MINISTERIAL DECREE 509/99 AND 207/04 ACADEMIC SYSTEMS)

1.    Time envisaged for obtaining the degree. Those who are enrolled full-time on degree programmes under Ministerial Decree 270/04 or Ministerial Decree 509/99, must pass all the exams within a period equal to three times the normal duration of the degree programme, unless otherwise established by the Faculty's educational regulations.

Example: those enrolled in a three-year bachelor's degree must pass all their exams within a total of 9 years; those enrolled in a two-year master's degree within a total of 6 years.

Any years of career break granted pursuant to Art. 45 below are not taken into account when calculating the time limit for obtaining the degree.

2.    The terms set for obtaining the degree are interrupted:

a)    in the event of a degree programme change;

b)    if you only need to sit the final degree exam. In this case, however, it is not possible to apply for a switch to part-time learning under Art. 50.

3.    Assessment of the study plan. Once the deadline for obtaining the qualification has expired, the credits acquired may no longer be deemed adequate for the qualification required by the degree programme attended. In this case, it is necessary to submit - within the deadlines for enrolment in subsequent years - an application with stamp duty for the assessment of the study plan.

The application must be submitted using the "Application" form (Domanda) available on the University website on the Student Forms page. Before submitting the application, it is necessary to check on Infostud that your valid identity document has been uploaded (section "Profile>Personal documents").

The Educational Board shall, after appropriate checks, determine any new educational requirements for the degree.

4.    Switching to part-time learning before the completion term. Those who enrolled in the academic year 2015-2016 in three-year bachelor's degrees, and those who enrolled in the academic year 2018-2019 in two-year master's degrees and have not yet obtained their degree nor withdrawn from their studies, will reach the end of the prescribed period for obtaining their degree at the end of the academic year 2024-2025: these students - from the third year fuoricorso - will pay contributions with a 50% increase. In order not to continue paying the surcharge, such students may apply to switch to part-time learning for the 2024-2025 academic year by following the deadlines and procedures indicated in Article 50. After the deadline for obtaining the degree, it is no longer possible to request a switch to part-time learning.

5.    Academic system switch. For those enrolled in programmes under Ministerial Decree 509/99, it is also possible to request a switch to the Ministerial Decree 270/04 academic system in accordance with the procedures set out in Article 38, provided that - for programmes that provide for a limited number of places for enrolment - students have at least 40 credits for enrolment in the second year of bachelor's degree programmes and at least 200 credits (180+20) for enrolment in the second year of master's degrees, after having obtained a bachelor's degree.

Transition to Ministerial Decree 270/04 programmes and the relative recognition of credits is carried out on the basis of special conversion tables prepared by the Faculties.

6.    Fuoricorso students from other Italian universities. Those who are enrolled as fuoricorso students at other Italian universities, and who have exceeded the limit set by their university of origin for the award of their degree, may apply for enrolment at Sapienza University, with recognition of their previous study plan, exclusively on degree programmes regulated by Ministerial Decree 270/04, provided that the Faculty considers the study plan pursued to be compatible.

These students must:

a)    Register on Infostud, obtain their student ID number and upload their identity document in the "Profile>Personal Documents" section;

b)    adhere to the admission procedures laid down for the chosen programme;

c)    submit an application with stamp duty. The application must be submitted using the ‘Application’ form (Domanda) available on the university website on the Student Forms page, enclosing a self-certification of the exams taken, the relevant disciplinary-scientific sectors (Ssd) and the number of credits;

d)    pay, within the enrolment deadlines set for each degree programme:

-      a fixed fee of €2,255;

-      the first instalment of tuition fees for the academic year 2024-2025;

-      the regional tax for the right to education for the academic year 2024-2025.

Students with a disability rating equal to or greater than 66% or who hold a disability certificate pursuant to Article 3, paragraph 1 of Law no. 104 of February 5, 1992, pay a fixed fee of €30 per year and the stamp duty.

The amounts will be produced by the Student Affairs Office on Infostud.
