
Sapienza launches a fundraising campaign for students in Afghanistan
Sapienza is promoting a fundraising campaign to support the right to study of Afghan students. The AssK - Afghan Students Seek Knowledge initiative aims to highlight the importance of university education for all girls and boys currently struggling due to the difficult situation in Afghanistan.
The campaign was launched on Saturday September 18, with an event that included a welcome address by Rector Antonella Polimeni and contributions from numerous Italian artists, actors and journalists such as Alessandro Haber, Alvia Reale, Ambra Angiolini, Andrea Cosentino, Antonella Attili, Ascanio Celestini, Canio Loguercio, Compagnia Lacasadargilla, Daniele Silvestri, Daniele Timpano, Davide Enia, Elvira Frosini, Federica Fracassi, Gaia Insenga, Iaia Forte, Lidia Ravera, Michela Murgia, Michele Placido, Veronica Cruciani, Vittoria Puccini, UnterWasser. The event was live streamed from the Spazio Rossellini multidisciplinary regional cultural centre on our University's website and social media channels and on ATCL - Circuito Multidisciplinare del Lazio Facebook page.
Among the guests participating in person and remotely, journalists Giovanna Botteri and Costanza Spocci outlined the political situation in Afghanistan between past and present.
The brainchild of theatre critic Andrea Porcheddu and Sapienza professor Carlo Cereti, AssK has the support of many organisations, including the Maxxi, the National Museum for 21st Century Arts, and the Centro Astalli.
