Sapienza Research Calls

To support the research and innovation activities of professors, researchers, postgraduates and doctoral students, Sapienza promotes internal funding tools, provided annually through competitive calls that vary according to priorities and objectives. Some of the most important calls include:

  • Sapienza Research Call. Call for Proposals for university research, including specific actions for "Large, Medium and Small Research Projects", "H2020 Projects", "Research Initiation Projects".
  • Call for Medium and Large Equipment of common interest to the University aims at financing projects for the purchase of Medium and Large Equipment for the development and strengthening of Sapienza's high-quality research laboratories and the creation of the Sapienza Research Infrastructure - SRI, as well as supporting the maintenance of the equipment.
  • Sapienza's Archaeological Missions (Large Excavation Call) aims to support archaeological and geo-paleontological field research, in Italy and abroad.
  • Call for Conferences, Seminars and Workshops. Sapienza publishes the Call for Conferences, Seminars and Workshops every year to open new possibilities for our academic staff to meet and exchange knowledge nationally and internationally.
  • Call for proposals for Outreach projects (Terza missione) 
  • Sapienza University promotes SAPIExcellence Calls to attract the best and most promising researchers, encouraging them to participate in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) and ERC programmes.
  • Call for Visiting Professors to invite lecturers affiliated with international institutions to carry out joint teaching or research activities.
  • Call for Cooperation to fund cooperation projects with universities and research institutions in developing countries in order to network the knowledge and skills necessary for the regional development of the countries receiving the contribution.
  • Call for proposals for PI incentives to award grants to winners of ERC and MSCA calls for proposals in order to carry out additional and/or supplementary research activities to those funded by the European Commission.
  • Call for Horizon Europe Project Coordination funds activities to support the preparation and submission of collaborative project proposals coordinated by Sapienza University of Rome under the Horizon Europe Programme.
  • The Horizon Europe Projects Award Call for Proposals aims to award collaborative project proposals submitted under Horizon Europe that have already been positively evaluated by the European Commission but have not received funding.
