#100ragazzeSTEM: STEM Sapienza scholarships to outstanding female students
100 scholarships to outstanding female students enrolled in the 2021-22 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) degree programmes. #100ragazzeSTEM (#100girlsSTEM) provides a three-year scholarship (€ 3,255.00 per year) to girls resident outside the Lazio Region, leaving their Italian secondary school with top marks (100).
Key criteria for the allocation will be ISEE (indicator of equivalent economic situation) and age, whereas CFUs will be taken into account to maintain the scholarship in subsequent years.
"This initiative tangibly promotes an increase in the number of women in the scientific field, reducing the gender gap, one of the objectives set out in the PNRR (National Research Programme) – says Rector Antonella Polimeni. "A greater female presence in qualified professional fields with excellent employment prospects can make a significant contribution to overcoming the Gender Pay Gap on the one hand, and on the other to breaking the glass ceiling that limits the presence of women in top positions in the political, economic and cultural areas".
The Sapienza Board of Governors approved the initiative in July 2021. Sapienza will select the candidates directly, and the list of recipients will be published once the procedure is over.
