Antonella Polimeni wins the Marisa Bellisario Prize

Rector Antonella Polimeni won the Marisa Bellisario Prize in the "Institutions" category for being the first female Rector of Sapienza in over 700 years of history. On July 1, ahead of the evening award ceremony, President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella received the winners at the Quirinale palace

Rector Antonella Polimeni participated in the meeting with the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella, which was held on July 1, 2021, at the Quirinale palace, together with the other winners of the Marisa Bellisario Prize 2021; the President of the Bellisario Foundation, Lella Golfo and the President of the prize selection committee, Stefano Lucchini were among the participants.

The Rector was awarded the Mela d'oro (golden apple) of the 33rd edition of the prize for the "Institutions" category, as the first female Rector of Sapienza in over 700 years of history. The award ceremony was held on the evening of July 1 at the Fabrizio Frizzi Rai Studios in Rome and will be broadcast on Rai1 on July 17.

"It is a special honour for me to receive this prize, which is so prestigious and meaningful, inspired by the figure of Marisa Bellisario, who was a model of commitment and an incentive for so many women," said Rector Antonella Polimeni. "I would like to dedicate the award to the many young women entering the world of university and work so that they know how to be courageous in setting their goals and tenacious in achieving them.
