Gianni Dessì. TuttoPieno
Monday, April 3, saw the opening of the "Gianni Dessì.TuttoPieno" exhibition curated by Claudia Carlucci and Gaetano Lettieri at the Museum of Classical Art. The project is dedicated to Marcello Barbanera, the Greek and Roman Archaeology professor, President of Sapienza Museums and Director of the Museum of Classical Art, who passed away last year. Barbanera had envisaged the possibility of an exhibition that would link the Museum's heritage of over 1,200 plaster-cast statues with the work of a contemporary artist. The project has been revived and presented a year after Marcello Barbanera's death.
The "Gianni Dessì. TuttoPieno" exhibition, in addition to the Museum's exceptional collection of plaster- cast statues, displays 19 pieces, including sculptures and paintings by the artist, showing his cultural journey where the terms sculpture, painting and art installation find an original meeting point in the power of the image, the fulcrum and synthesis of countless other physical and mental approaches.
The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday, April 4, until Friday, July 21 2023, during the Museum's opening hours (Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
