New services for students with disabilities and specific learning difficulties. The Board of Directors approves a 680,000 euro plan
Our University's Board of Directors has approved a programme of interventions in favour of students with disabilities and specific learning difficulties of over 680,000 euros. The resources, allocated by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (Mur) with specific funding, will be used to strengthen the activities already started by Sapienza, to create new services and to improve the usability of our spaces. In particular, the plan approved by the Board of Directors provides for:
- Study aids, specialist equipment and educational materials, including subtitling software licences;
- Specialised tutoring services;
- Italian Sign language interpreting service to help hearing-impaired students attend the lessons and participate in university life;
- Counselling, assistance and psychological counselling service for students with disabilities and specific learning difficulties, for individual educational support and targeted intervention plans for individual students;
- Collaborative scholarships for au pair tutoring in favour of students with disabilities and specific learning difficulties;
- Communication support service for students with speech, language and/or communication impairment;
- Contribution to the Sapienza "Noi bene" programme, aimed at promoting wellbeing and preventing mental discomfort;
- Transport services;
- Taxi vouchers to support course attendance and socialisation of students with disabilities;
- Creation of a technical plan for monitoring and removal of Sapienza's architectural barriers.
The Board of Directors approved the programme of new services for students with disabilities and specific learning difficulties during an important annual event, the International Day of People with Disabilities, celebrated worldwide on December 3.
