Thanks to an agreement between UNESCO and Sapienza, the new Chair of Education and research for improved urban health and wellbeing in cities has been launched. The Chair, directed by Andrea Lenzi of the Department of Experimental Medicine, aims at promoting an integrated system of research, training and information on urban health and wellbeing. The project will facilitate international collaboration between researchers and lecturers from universities and institutions in Italy, Europe, North America, Africa, Latin America, and other countries.

Specifically, the Chair aims to provide support to universities in the study and monitoring of wellbeing factors that contribute to the creation of healthy cities, to raise children's awareness of the issue through educational programmes and activities in schools, to promote the integration of national and international policies and programmes on health and wellbeing, and to create cooperative relationships with UNESCO and its chairs in the implementation of projects and activities.

The agreement will last four years unless renewed.
