
Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year 2019-2020
On Tuesday, February 18, Sapienza University of Rome will hold the official Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year 2019-2020, 717th since its foundation. The President of The Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, will attend the event. The Ministry of Education, Gaetano Manfredi, will open the conference by greeting the attendees. The Rector Eugenio Gaudio will deliver his inaugural address followed by Valerio Cerracchio, Civil Engineering students and student representative, and Giulietta Capacchione, Academic Programmes and Right to Education Area senior manager, on behalf of administrative and technical staff. Eric Berton, President of the University of Aix-Marseille will greet the academic community on behalf of the CIVIS Alliance.
During the ceremony the most meritorious young graduate, the World Memory Champion and the most senior Professor Emeritus will be awarded.
Senator for life and Holocaust survivor Liliana Segre will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree in History of Europe. Alessandro Saggioro, coordinator of the Ph.D. in History of Europe will deliver the speech followed by the Senator’s Lectio Magistralis entitled “La storia sulla pelle”.
The solemn Inauguration will conclude the ceremony.
MuSa Classica, conducted by Maestro Francesco Vizzioli and MuSa Coro conducted by Maestro Paolo Camiz and Maestro Giorgio Montanari will perform “Canto degli Italiani” and the European Anthem.
