Sapienza bids a fond farewell to Simonetta Ranalli at the end of her term of office as Director General
On October 21, 2024, the Sapienza community met with Director General Simonetta Ranalli in the Aula Magna, for an event organised to mark the end of her term at the top of the University's administration.
The MuSa Blues orchestra opened the ceremony with a musical tribute. Rector Antonella Polimeni then recalled the work done by Simonetta Ranalli during her years as Director General, from the difficult period of the Covid epidemic to the many modernisation projects at Sapienza coordinated by the Director, including the restoration of the monumental staircase of the Rectorate, which is now nearing completion.
Beniamino Altezza, as a member of the Board of Governors, Lorenzo Madonna, as student representative, and Raffaela Iovane, Director of Student Affairs Area, as a spokesperson for the Area Directors, then took the floor.
Director General Simonetta Ranalli concluded by taking stock of her 44 years in the Sapienza administration, starting with her entry as a student worker at the Budget, Programming and Economic Management Unit, and ending with her appointment as Director General in 2017.
The Vice Rector, Giuseppe Ciccarone, then greeted the Director General, highlighting Simonetta Ranalli's professional and personal qualities.
At the end of the ceremony, the Director General was presented with a plaque from the community which reads: "Sapienza University of Rome thanks Simonetta Ranalli for having dedicated her entire career to the University with professionalism, dedication and a deep sense of belonging".
