"Horizon Europe" is European Union’s ambitious programme of investments for research and innovation. The objectives are to reinforce the scientific and technological bases of the EU and the European Research Area, to improve innovation, competitiveness and employment in Europe, achieve priority objectives for citizens, and support the socio-economic model and values of Europe.

The Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) nominated Prof. Vito d'Andrea, from the Department of Surgical Sciences as "Alternate Italian Representative" for the programme subgroup addressing the study of cancer, the Horizon Europe Cancer Mission Board. Every year, major experts meet in Brussels to share information and promote the diffusion of knowledge concerning cancer through national events, as well as suggesting new initiatives.
