Specific courses on Sustainability, Education for SDGs

The learning outcomes of the course Sustainability Science: Cultural, Ecological and Digital Transition analyse the concept of sustainability according to a precise cross-disciplinary strategy involving education, individual and collective behaviour, food, health and individual rights, communities, natural resources, cities, work, business, innovation, territory, and institutions. This approach offers an innovative cultural approach with the direct involvement of the humanistic-social and scientific-technological sectors, with an introductory analysis of the concepts of human and natural capital, ecosystem and energy services, environmental law and quality of life, including health and access to quality education. The course takes a cross-disciplinary look at the "Do No Significant Harm" (DNSH) principle, meaning "do not cause significant harm to the environment", a fundamental element of the NRRP that for the next five years will allocate 204 billion euros to Italy to overcome the epidemic crisis and relaunch sustainable development. This principle intends to put in place activities that respect, inter alia, the following objectives: climate change mitigation; climate change adaptation; sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources; transition to a circular economy; prevention and reduction of pollution; and conservation and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems.

There will be a test to obtain the 6 CFUs at the end of the course.

The credits acquired, for Sapienza students, are recognised in the curricular pathway under "altre attività formative - conoscenze utili per l'inserimento nel mondo del lavoro".

For those enrolled in Sapienza degree programmes, the course is free of charge. For those not enrolled at Sapienza, the course costs 300 euros and can also be purchased using the Carta del docente.
