From October 5 to 9, 2022, the regional pilot workshop of the AICS-funded project Partnership for Knowledge took place in Procida (Italian Capital of Culture 2022) and Naples. The project offered Master and PhD scholarships in 23 Italian universities to students from priority cooperation countries.

The project is divided into four thematic platforms coordinated by four Italian universities (Platform 1 Rural Development and Land Management - University of Florence, Platform 2 Health and Wash - University of Pavia, Platform 3 Sustainable Energy, Environment and Industrial Innovation - Politecnico di Milano), Platform 4 Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism - Sapienza University of Rome.

The workshop was the first event where students from 16 countries met face-to-face and had an opportunity to discuss their experience in the project and create an alum network.

The 'Conservatorio delle orfane,' a facility made available by the Università Orientale of Naples, hosted the central session of the workshop. The event aimed to provide participants with an overview of the richness of Italian culture, declined in 4 areas through 4 presentations of excellence:

• The landscape, Prof. Bruno Vecchio, University of Florence, The Italian landscape: an interpretative model,
• The Italian science, Prof. Gianbattista Parigi, University of Pavia, From valetudinaria to CNAO: a glimpse over twenty centuries of Medicine in Italy, 
• Mathematics, Dott. Domenico Brunetto, Politecnico di Milano, Mathematics for social integration,
• Cultural Heritage Management and Promotion, Dr Sara Bossi, Sapienza University of Rome, Managing and Sharing Cultural Heritage: the Atlas of Ancient Rome and the Atlas of Ancient Latium.

The day's proceedings were introduced by Professor Antonia Soriente of the università Orientale of Naples and Dr Marco Focacci of AICS, the almost €4 million project funding body. The 40 participants welcomed the scheduled speeches and all the cultural tours that followed with great enthusiasm.
