The Historical Archive Unit, established in 2009, is responsible for safeguarding, protecting, enhancing and promoting Sapienza's historical documentary heritage in order to organise and offer a privileged environment for study and research.

A cooperation project with the Department of Letters and Modern Cultures has been underway since 2017. This collaboration has enabled the various Central Administration archives to be catalogued, their contents assessed, and documents selected for permanent retention or disposal in accordance with the Piano di conservazione drawn up in 2022. 2022.
