Thanks to the wide range of expertise available, Sapienza is increasingly able to extend its educational offer to non-traditional users, anticipating and responding to emerging needs in society. Sapienza organises and manages numerous educational activities, such as Training Courses, Higher Education and Summer/Winter Schools, Language and Italian Courses for International Students, Continuing Education and Continuing Medical Education, as well as initiatives related to the placement of its students and graduates to help them find more stable jobs and better career opportunities.

The need to valorise non-curricular lifelong learning and open education responds to the need to cope with the changes in the world of work, which give workers the prospect of multiple careers throughout their lives, and to the need to continuously update and strengthen citizens' skills and competences. The numerous initiatives for a culture of citizenship promoted by departments and faculties and the activities related to public service and service learning, which can be attributed to open education, also point in this direction.
