Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action - Postdoctoral fellowships 2025 - How to apply

The European Commission has just released the 2025 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions - Postdoctoral Fellowships Call.

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships fund two- or three-year fellowships for ambitious postdoctoral research projects. The aim is to strengthen the creative and innovative potential of researchers through the acquisition of new skills and international, interdisciplinary and intersectoral mobility. The financial contribution is provided in the form of a grant to cover 100% of the costs, amounting to approximately €6,500 gross per month for the researcher's salary, plus a contribution of €1,650 per month for research and management costs.
The deadline for submitting proposals is Wednesday, September 10, at 5 PM (Brussels time).

Information for researchers

Researchers of all ages, nationalities and subject can participate if they meet the following requirements:

  • hold a PhD and have a maximum of 8 years of full-time research experience;
  • have not resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the Host Institution for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately preceding the call deadline.

Researchers must apply jointly with a supervisor from the chosen Host Institution.
It is possible to choose between the following funding plans:

  • European Fellowships: support a research and training period of 12 to 24 months at an institution in an EU Member or Partner Country.
  • Global Fellowships: support a research and training period of 12 to 24 months at a non-EU organisation, followed by a 12-month return phase at a European institution. In this case, the mobility requirement applies to the non-EU country and not to the European host institution of return.

Information for supervisors

Postdoctoral Fellowships represent an opportunity not only for researchers, but also for Sapienza and the host departments, as they make it possible to:

  • increase the level of internationalisation of research, as they offer the possibility of hosting talented researchers currently abroad;
  • encourage the return of young researchers of Italian nationality;
  • allow researchers to carry out a research period at an institution based in a non-EU country and then return to Sapienza;

Interested professors may invite their international and Italian researchers to apply for a Postdoctoral Fellowship with Sapienza as host institution, if they meet the participation requirements.
