SAPIExcellence
SAPIExcellence aims to provide concrete incentives, in addition to scientific ones, for excellent researchers who submit proposals in the framework of MSCA-IF and ERC indicating Sapienza as the Host Institution. The purpose is to increase the number and quality of submitted proposals, as well as the chance to obtain fellowships and grants funded by the EU Commission.
Expected Outcomes:
- Increasing the level of internationalisation of research, as they offer the possibility of hosting talented foreign researchers;
- Encouraging the return of young Italian researchers who have not been resident in our country for more than 12 months in the last three years;
- Opportunities, even for researchers already working with a Department, to carry out a research period at an institution based in a non-EU country and then return to Sapienza.

Seal of SAPIExcellence
Seal of SAPIExcellence - 4 fellowships amounting to €50,000 each, for a total of €200,000 per year, to be granted to Sapienza proposals submitted under the MSCA-IF-2017 call that have been awarded the "Seal of Excellence" by the evaluation Panel. The €50,000 fellowship will allow a €40,000 employment contract for each researcher and €10,000 to cover expenses directly related to the research activities (i.e., purchase of laboratory equipment, consumables, travel expenses, etc.).

BE-FOR-ERC
In order to reach these objectives, Sapienza University has recently published the “BE-FOR-ERC Call” that will assign 5 fellowships for research projects of excellence lasting 12 months. The call is open to all research areas and scientific sectors. Project proposals are invited from principal investigators who have obtained their PhD (2-7 years before January 1, 2020) and hold a very promising scientific curriculum.
Each fellowship will provide funds for a total of €50,000 to be divided as follows:
- €40,000 to fund an annual research grant Principal Investigator;
- €10,000 to cover costs directly related to research activities.
