SAPIExcellence

SAPIExcellence is Sapienza's new strategy to attract the best and most promising researchers, encouraging them to actively participate in the Horizon Europe programme's "Excellence" Pillar and, in particular, in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) and ERC funding schemes
Expected Outcomes:
  • increased internationalisation of research, as these intervention tools offer the opportunity to host talented international researchers;
  • support for the return of young Italian researchers who have not been resident in our country for more than 12 months in the last three years;
  • recruitment of outstanding researchers who are potentially more likely to be competitive at international level and to obtain funding from additional European programmes.

The programme is divided into 4 specific actions:
[the following links also include selection results, if available]

Seal of SAPIExcellence

Funding for research fellowships worth €50,000.00 each, for Sapienza proposals submitted as part of the MSCA-IF call and deemed by the Evaluation Panel to be worthy of the ‘Seal of Excellence’.

Add SAPIExcellence

Fellowship funding of €50,000.00 each, in order to extend by 12 months and give continuity and further development to MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF) and Doctoral Network (DN) research projects already funded by the European Commission and nearing completion (or recently completed).

BE-FOR-ERC

Funding for fellowships aimed at carrying out a 12-month research project of excellence. The call for applications is open to all scientific and disciplinary areas and sectors of research. Researchers who, on the closing date for applications, have held a PhD for no more than five years may submit proposals as Principal Investigators. The amount of each fellowship awarded will be €50,000.00.

SEED OF ERC

Funding for research projects reserved for principal investigators of ERC proposals submitted under the 2021 Starting (StG) or Consolidator (CoG) calls that have passed the first evaluation step with a score of A or B in the second evaluation step, without receiving funding.
