1. Enrolment as a regular student. Enrolment as a regular student is maintained for the normal duration of the degree programme laid down in the relevant academic system (e.g. 3 years for bachelor's degrees, 2 years for master's degrees).
2. Enrolment as a fuoricorso student. Fuoricorso enrolment occurs when one exceeds the normal duration of the degree programme without having obtained the educational qualification or without having passed all the exams required for admission to the final degree exam.
3. Years of university enrolment for the granting of certain benefits. For the granting of certain benefits (e.g. regional scholarships), the years of enrolment are counted from the first year of enrolment, regardless of any subsequent career changes (e.g. degree programme changes, transfers, course shortenings, etc.).
