1. The family bonus is a reduction in the amount of tuition fees due for students who have one or more family members (brothers, sisters, parents or children) already enrolled at Sapienza if they do not fall within the more favourable reduction areas referred to in Article 20. The amount of the reduction varies according to Isee:
- with an Isee 2022 for the right to academic education less than or equal to €40,000, each member is entitled to a 15% reduction on the annual tuition fees;
- with an Isee 2022 for the right to academic education exceeding €40,000, each member is entitled to an 8% reduction on the annual tuition fee.
2. Necessary requirements. To be eligible for the family bonus, you must:
- be enrolled for the academic year 2023-2024 in a degree programme for a number of years not exceeding its legal duration*; in the event of a switch/transfer from another programme, all previous years of enrolment are counted;
- have a family member (brother, sister, parent or child) enrolled at Sapienza University of Rome in good standing with the payment of tuition fees for the academic year 2023-2024 (i.e. having paid the first instalment on time);
- belong to the same family unit as the family member already enrolled, as shown in the Unique Substitute Statement (Dsu Dichiarazione Unica Sostitutiva) submitted to obtain the Isee calculation for the right to academic education 2023;
- if enrolled in the academic year 2023-2024 in the second year of bachelor's degrees and single-cycle degrees, to have obtained at least 10 ECTS by August 10, 2023; if enrolled in the academic year 2023-2024 in a year subsequent to the second year, to have obtained at least 25 ECTS between August 10, 2022, and August 10, 2023. No merit requirements are envisaged for those enrolling in bachelor's degrees and for those enrolled in the first year of master's degrees, as well as for those who obtain an incoming transfer from other Italian and international universities, limited to the year of enrolment in which the transfer occurred.
Qualifying exams that award ECTS may be counted as exams/ECTS taken if registered.
In the case of differing merit situations between individuals, only the individual in good standing is granted the reduction.
3. Grounds for exclusion. Students enrolled on part-time learning (Art. 50) cannot claim the bonus.
4. How to obtain the bonus. The Infostud system will calculate the bonus after payment of the first instalment for all members. The reduction will become effective on the second instalment, provided that the same Isee is declared for all members.
Thanks to the application cooperation systems with Inps, the condition of belonging to the same household will be deducted automatically from the students' Isee declarations in their unique substitute statement (Dsu).
* Due to a mere typo on the Board of Governors Resolution No. 210/18 introducing the relief, it is erroneously stated that the relief is granted up to the first year outside the regular duration of the programme (fuoricorso).
