Art. 34 - FORFEITURE (ONLY FOR STUDENTS UNDER THE “OLD ACADEMIC SYSTEM”, BEFORE MINISTERIAL DECREE 509/99)

1.    When does “forfeiture” occur. Students who are enrolled fuoricorso on degree programmes under the old academic system (prior to Ministerial Decree 509/99) forfeit their student status if they do not sit exams for eight consecutive academic years, pursuant to Article 149 of Royal Decree 1592 of August 31, 1933 (regardless of the payment of contributions).

Forfeiture is automatic and the University is not obliged to inform students of their forfeited status or their imminent forfeiture.

2.    Forfeiture does not occur:

a)    if you have passed all your exams and only need to sit the final degree exam, which you can sit regardless of how long it has been since your last exam (subject to renewal of enrolment);

b)    if an exam has not been passed and has been registered as not passed by January 31 of the eighth academic year following the date of registration of the last exam taken;

c)     if an academic system switch is made as provided for in Article 38 below;

d)    if a degree programme change is carried out.

3.    High school diploma restitution. Students in the forfeited status may request to the Student Affairs Office the return of their high school diploma if it was submitted at the time of enrolment (original diplomas were submitted at the Student Affairs Office up to 1998) by appointment that must be arranged by e-mail.
