Art. 48 - WITHDRAWAL FROM ENROLMENT

1.    What the withdrawal entails. Withdrawal from enrolment is a formal and irrevocable act that entails the closure of the university career related to a degree programme in which one is enrolled.

Those who withdraw cannot benefit from the educational and administrative services for the programme for which they have withdrawn, with the exception of requests for certifications.

2.    When and how to apply. It is possible to withdraw from enrolment at any time. The willingness to withdraw is expressed by means of a written declaration, with stamp duty.

To submit your application, log on to the ticket system, select your Student Affairs Office and then the Withdrawal ("Rinuncia") service. In the application form, you will find the form to be filled in, under the heading Attachments.

Go to the ticket system tts.uniroma1.it/otrs/customer.pl

Before submitting the application, it is necessary to check on Infostud that your valid identity document has been uploaded (section "Profile>Personal documents").

3.    Contributions and arrears. Those who withdraw are not entitled to reimbursement of contributions already paid and are not required to pay any contributions they may owe.

4.    Recognition of credits following re-enrolment. Following withdrawal, it is possible to re-enrol in the same or another degree programme, as long as it complies with Ministerial Decree 270/04 regulations.

In exceptional cases (assessed at the discretion of the competent educational bodies) it is possible to request the recognition of credits acquired prior to the withdrawal: in this case it is necessary to submit an application with stamp duty by means of a ticket addressed to your Student Affairs Office by connecting to the link tts.uniroma1.it/otrs/customer.pl and filling in the form available in the service Credit recognition following withdrawal from studies ("Riconoscimento crediti a seguito di rinuncia agli studi”).

5.    Payments for the recognition of credits. The recognition of credits entails the payment to the University of a fixed fee of €290 for each academic year between the last enrolment and the application for recognition, up to a maximum of €4,500. The Student Affairs Office, upon request submitted by email, will calculate the amount and generate the due amount on Infostud.

If there are arrears in contributions at the time of withdrawal, the fixed fee also applies for the years in arrears.

When new enrolment takes place in the year immediately following the year of renunciation:

  • if all tuition fees have been paid for the academic year of withdrawal, only the amount of tuition fees for the academic year in which re-enrolment is requested is due;
  • if, for the academic year of withdrawal, the tuition fees have not been paid or only a partial payment has been made (only the first or second instalment), the fixed fee of €290 must be paid, without surcharges, plus the amount of the fees for the academic year in which re-enrolment is requested.

Disabled students, with a disability rating equal to or greater than 66% or holding a disability certificate pursuant to Article 3(1) of Law no. 104 of February 5, 1992, will pay a fixed fee of €30 for each year of non-enrolment.

6.    Withdrawing students from other Italian universities. Requests for recognition following withdrawal must be made at the same time as the enrolment procedure for the new degree programme and may not be submitted in subsequent years.

On the application for recognition of credits, it will be necessary to indicate the student ID  number obtained through registration with the Infostud information system https://www.studenti.uniroma1.it/phoenixreg/#/. Those who come from other universities and request recognition of exams following withdrawal must also pay the amounts set out in paragraph 5 above. The Student Affairs Office will request the student's academic career at the university of origin.

7.    Non-EU students with a residence permit for study purposes. The withdrawal from studies carried out by students from non-EU countries with a residence permit for study purposes entails the loss of validity of the residence permit and therefore the impossibility of enrolling at other Italian universities for the same academic year.

After the withdrawal, in order to proceed with a new enrolment, it is necessary to return to the country of origin and apply for a new study visa, as provided for in Part III, paragraph 2 of the Interministerial Circular on "Procedures for the entry, stay and enrolment of international students and the relative recognition of qualifications, for higher education courses in Italy".
