Tax Code

The tax code (codice fiscale) is a fiscal and administrative identification document that is issued by the Revenue service. The tax code card is essential for a wide range of operations, such as opening a bank account. Foreign citizens residing in Rome must have an Italian tax code.

The International Office can help you obtain a tax code card. During the Welcome Weeks for Exchange Student Orientation, the Revenue Service is on campus. This is probably the easiest way to apply for a tax code.

Alternatively, after you arrive in Italy, you may request your tax code at the Revenue Service Office (Agenzia delle Entrate) on Via Ippolito Nievo, 36 (Monday/Wednesday/Friday 7:50 am – 1:30 pm and Tuesday/Thursday 7:50 am - 3:30 pm). The office is 500 metres from the “Trastevere” Train Station and can also be reached with buses 3, 8, 730. Get off at the "Piazza Ippolito Nievo" stop.
