Chiara Petrioli, elected member of IEEE Advancing Technology for Humanity
Chiara Petrioli, deputy rector of the Third Mission Area "Scouting, Fundraising and Business Incubation", professor at the Department of Computer Science, has been elected Fellow of the IEEE Advancing Technology for Humanity. The IEEE is the world's largest organisation for the advancement of technology. Chiara Petrioli became a Fellow with the following motivation: 'for contributions to wireless and undersea networks'.
The IEEE Fellow is one of the IEEE's most prestigious honours and is awarded to a very limited number of senior members who have made significant contributions to the advancement or application of engineering, science, and technology and who have brought significant value to our society. The number of IEEE Fellows nominated in any one year does not exceed 0.1% of the total IEEE voting membership.
The acronym IEEE refers to the organisation's former name (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). Still, today it is no longer used in its extended form, since other key figures, such as computer scientists, have been added to the expertise strictly related to electrical and electronic engineering in this field. The IEEE Advancing Technology for Humanity provides a wide range of quality publications, making it possible for professionals to exchange knowledge and technical information.
Chiara Petrioli is listed by Wired magazine as one of the 50 women who have made and are making IT history, in an article published on November 23, 2020.
