The Asbestos Safety Expert carries out the following activities under the coordination of the Rector through the Safety Offices:        

• Sapienza asbestos manager;
• monitoring of the concentration of airborne asbestiform fibres, periodic checks and mapping of asbestos-containing materials;
• consultancy activities also at construction sites for the removal of asbestos-containing materials within Sapienza;
• specific information and training on the asbestos risk and on the procedures for maintenance work on asbestos-containing prodcuts for both university personnel and external firms;
• collaborates with the Special Office for Prevention, Protection and Supervision in carrying out all the activities falling within the competence of the Office with regard to asbestos risk and airborne fibres;
• draws up and/or updates, for each Sapienza Production Unit and for each individual site, any document necessary for the correct drafting, by the employers, of the Documento di Valutazione del Rischio referred to in Article 17, paragraph 1, letter a) of Legislative Decree no. 81/2008 and subsequent amendments and additions, on the subject of risk deriving from the presence of material containing asbestos.

The Asbestos Safety Expert performs the required tasks autonomously, without any constraints of subordination, with their own means and equipment, and in coordination, where necessary or required, with the Special Office for Prevention, Protection and Supervision.
