Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) – KA171 Scholarships (Outgoing)
The Erasmus+ ICM program, funded by the European Commission, allows Sapienza students and teachers to spend a period of study and/or thesis research or teaching/training in non-EU countries. The fundings are issued year by year and each has a duration of three years.

The project 2023-1-IT02-KA171-HED-000140518 has a duration of 3 years from 1 August 2023 to 31 July 2026. The amount of the grant is Euro 649.080,00 and includes the following scholarships:
The number of scholarships mentioned above are related to the overall number of scholarships foreseen by the project. Each semester available positions are assigned on the basis of a call launched by Sapienza. Therefore the number of scholarships decreases as they are assigned semester per semester.

The project 2024-1-IT02-KA171-HED-000228623 has a duration of 3 years from 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2027. The amount of the grant is Euro 455.327,00 and includes the following scholarships:

Outgoing students
The Erasmus+ ICM offers selected students a scholarship of 700.00 euros per month plus travel expenses.
Travel costs are calculated with the Distance Calculator based on the distance travelled:

All scholarship winners will be able to attend courses and/or do thesis research at the host university.
There is no payment of registration fees at the host university.
All activities supported abroad will be recognized by the competent Sapienza teachers as established in the Learning Agreement.
Student mobilities can last from a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 6 months (possibly to be extended up to a maximum of 12 months, of which the further 6 months without scholarship - Zero-EU grant mode).
The ICM grant also covers mobility for research at Phd level for the same duration.
Calls are normally published, based on the funding received, every year between February and March. To check for open calls, please refer to the corresponding sections (Open Calls).
The CLA (University Language Center) organizes language courses dedicated to students selected for an international mobility exchange.
The Internationalization of didactics and non-EU Mobility Unit will send an email to the selected students with instructions for filling out the form to join the courses. Selected students will be able to opt for one of the following languages (according to the official language of the destination country or the teaching language at the host university): English, French, Spanish, Catalan, German or Portuguese. Outgoing academic staff receive a daily scholarship according to the provisions of the Erasmus+ ICM programme combined with the University academic trips’ regulation for the maximum period allowed for that destination plus travel expenses.
Mobility of academic staff lasts from a minimum of 7 to a maximum of 21 days (including the two travel days).
The duration varies according to the distance between Sapienza University of Rome and the hosting institution of the academic staff.
Travel expenses for both students and academic staff are calculated on the basis of the Distance Calculator and the distance traveled:
