The FISA (Italian Fund for Applied Sciences) aims to promote the competitiveness of the national production system through the enhancement of industrial research and experimental development, and works alongside the FIS - Italian Fund for Science, which is dedicated to fundamental research.

The Ministry of University and Research intends to support industrial research and experimental development project proposals submitted by individual researchers (principal investigators) who are able to contribute to the resolution of important social issues and introduce significant innovations into the socio-economic and industrial context.
